With a total of 14 wind turbine generators, is capable of generating up to 50MW of energy.
GDG were commissioned to provide detailed civil, geotechnical and structural design services for this project.
Working for civils contractor Roadbridge, GDG’s onshore renewables team has been designing the structural and geotechnical aspects of the turbine foundations, as well as taking responsibility for the 3D modelling and alignments, floating and founded access tracks, crane pads and substation control building.
The team is working closely with Roadbridge engineers to optimise the alignment and track designs on a site that has locally steep topography, surface water and soft blanket peats.
GDG undertook the role of lead civil engineer on this project undertaking the following:
GDG worked closely with their client to provide a safe, sustainable and efficient design for this project which is located in difficult moorland terrain characterised by blanket bog and steep gradients.
Our team provided bespoke tailored services to meet the specific needs of this project including design of floated cable trench solutions in deep peats and detailed slope stability analysis of floating access tracks.
