CAD Technician - Dublin

We are currently looking for a suitable candidate to fill the role of CAD technician in our Dublin Office. The applicant should have 10 years+ of experience to join Gavin and Doherty Geosolutions Ltd., a leading engineering consultancy. The proposed technician role will be supporting a team of Design Engineers. The ideal candidate will be fully proficient in CAD and have some CIVIL 3D and REVIT experience. A track record in a range of projects across the civil engineering sector would be beneficial, including infrastructure schemes, geotechnical profiles and structural detailing.

The position will involve: 
  • Providing full office CAD Draughtsperson support to Design Engineers 
  • Ensuring that all drawing requirements are completed on time and in accordance with the associated deadlines.
  • Ensuring that CAD responsibilities and on-going requirements are planned, scheduled and managed in a way that allows for the incumbent to fully manage the role.
  • Preparation of new drawing layouts, conceptual design and detailed design drawings.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Fully proficient in CAD, CIVIL 3D and REVIT.
  • Experience of producing geotechnical cross sections.
  • Experience of RC detailing.
  • Strong planning and organisation skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong IT Skills.
  • Experience of ARCGIS would be beneficial but not essential.

Structural Engineer - Dublin
We are currently looking for a suitable candidate to fill the role of Structural Engineer at our Dublin Office. The applicant should have a minimum of five years post-graduate engineering experience.

The position will involve: 
  • Undertake engineering analysis and prepare calculations for structural and civil engineering projects
  • Engineering Design (Scheme Design/Tender Design/Detailed Design)
  • Be proficient in the use of relevant technical analysis and design software
  • Attend design meetings, site meetings and carry out site inspections
  • Maintain all necessary records
  • Mentor and guide graduate /junior engineers
  • Provide technical support to include report writing and presentations
  • Analysis and Design of structures in steel, timber, concrete and masonry
  • Structural surveys of residential & commercial buildings
  • Planning and implementation of site investigations
  • Prepare structural and civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum BEng degree in civil/structural engineering
  • 5 years+ experience
  • Experience of Soil-Structure Interaction Required
  • Experience of designing foundations and retaining walls essential
  • Experience of RC detailing is essential
  • Experience of marine structures (eg. Quay walls) a strong plus

Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Dublin
We're currently looking for a suitable candidate to fill the role of Senior Geotechnical Engineer at our Dublin office in Churchtown. The applicant should have a minimum of eight years geotechnical engineering experience, should be qualified to a master’s degree level and be a Chartered Engineer. The applicant should have experience of (i) supervising junior engineers, (ii) completing geotechnical interpretive reporting, (iii) soil-structure interaction and completing projects on time and in-budget.

The position will involve: 
  • Managing complex projects
  • Developing the expertise of more junior staff
  • Geotechnical Interpretation
  • Soil-Structure Interaction Analysis
  • Tendering for work
  • Liaising with existing clients and developing contacts with new clients
Technical details of projects may involve:
  • Scoping and Specifying site investigations
  • Geotechnical interpretation for onshore and offshore site investigations
  • Selecting design parameters and undertaking advanced geotechnical analysis
  • Geotechnical and Foundation design for civil, structural, infrastructure, offshore and renewable projects
  • Technical report writing
  • Preparing technical tenders for new projects and general business development
  • Preparation of contract documents and specifications
  • Completing design drawing and mapping
  • Management and Supervision of ground investigations
  • Contract administration, construction supervision and site inspections
  • Day to day coordination and management of design work among junior engineering staff
  • Project management to ensure delivery within time, budget and quality constraints
  • Client interface and company representation at meetings
  • Quality Control and Health and Safety Management (PSDP)
The position will primarily be based in the Dublin office (Churchtown) but will involve some travel in Ireland, the UK and central Europe for meetings, site inspections and construction supervision.

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Min 8 years experience in Geotechnical analysis and design
  • Chartered status with Engineers Ireland, or ICE
  • Detailed Geotechnical Design Experience
  • Experience of public works contracts
  • A MSc degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering
  • Experience and proficiency with technical report writing and presentations
  • A full clean drivers licence.
