Membership and Affiliations

The Association of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists (AGS) is a non-profit making trade association established to improve the profile and quality of geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering. The membership comprises UK organisations and individuals having a common interest in the business of site investigation, geotechnics, geoenvironmental engineering, engineering geology, geochemistry, hydrogeology, and other related disciplines.

The Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (ACEI) – is a voluntary, self-regulatory professional body representing the business and professional interests of firms and individuals engaged in Consulting Engineering. As the voice of the Consulting Engineering profession, it assists in resolving issues of importance for clients and Consultants alike and contributes to the development of relevant public policy through involvement in relevant working groups, Government committees, and the development of model conditions of engagement and policy papers.

Engineers Ireland is the professional body for engineers in Ireland. It has been representing the engineering profession since 1835 and has over 20,000 members. One of its main responsibilities is to establish and maintain standards of professional engineering and engineering education, ethics and conduct.

The National Irish Safety Organisation or NISO, is a limited organisation based in Dublin and founded on 15 January 1963. As a voluntary independent body with charitable status, NISO complements the information provided by the Health and Safety Authority, the Irish statutory public body responsible for the promotion and enforcement of occupational safety and health. NISO’s mission is to create the conditions where Irish workplaces are among the safest and healthiest in Europe.

Geoscience Ireland (GI) is a network of 40 companies, delivering integrated expertise in water, minerals, environmental and infrastructure development to clients in over 50 countries. The GI network provides design, consultancy and contracting services to multilateral agencies, governments and the private sector.

The Civil Engineering Contractors Association is the representative body for companies who work day-to-day to deliver, upgrade, and maintain the country's infrastructure.With more than 300 members split across eight regions, CECA represents firms who together carry out an estimated 70-80 per cent of all civil engineering activity in the UK, in the key sectors of transport, energy, communications, waste and water.

BGA is the principal association for geotechnical engineers in the United Kingdom. It also performs the role of the Ground Board for the Institution of Civil Engineers, as well as being the UK member of the International Society for Soil Mechanics & Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM).
