DESTINATION RAIL project stakeholder workshop held in Ljubljana
Earlier this month, a workshop for the DESTINATION RAIL project was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where a beta version of the Decision Support Tool (DST) was presented to stakeholders.
The project has developed a DST for European rail infrastructure managers to support rational investment decisions regarding rail infrastructure, including earthworks, bridges and tracks. The DST ensures reliable decision making based on quantitative risk assessment methodologies.
Valuable feedback was obtained from representatives of Irish Rail, Deutsche Bahn Netz, Croatian Railways and the Slovenian Agency for the Management of Public Railway Infrastructure Investment. This will be accounted for in the final version of the DST, which will be presented at the final DESTINATION RAIL Conference to be held in Zagreb, Croatia on 27th & 28th April 2018. Further details of the DST and the final conference event will be made available here. The workshop's presentations are available here.
DESTINATION RAIL is a €2.9 million research project, funded by the European Commission, which is being led by GDG. In addition to managing the project, GDG have developed novel risk assessment methodologies for managing earthworks assets along rail infrastructure networks.
