James is an experienced geologist with a BSc in Geology and Archaeology from University College Dublin. James’ work as a geologist to date has focused on GIS development, hydrogeological mapping and geothermal energy. His work includes in depth research into ground source heating technologies as well as temperature measurement and data acquisition techniques. James has extensive experience working on projects conducting field and laboratory thermal properties tests on Irish rock types and soils.

The SAFE-10-T (Safety of Transport Infrastructure on the TEN-T Network) Project funded by the European Union commenced this week with the project kick-off meeting taking place in Delft, the Netherlands. GDG are responsible for coordinating this three year project and will manage an international consortium to develop a safety framework for critical road, rail and inland waterway infrastructure along the European TEN-T network. The framework will use remote monitoring data for tunnels, bridges and earthworks in conjunction with machine learning algorithms and traffic modelling tools to evaluate network safety performance due to extreme events.

Julie Clarke joins the GDG team as Head of Research, Development and Innovation. Prior to joining GDG, Julie was involved in a number of European-funded research projects and, therefore, she has experience of project management and grant proposal writing for R&D projects. In addition, Julie has a broad range of experience in the development and application of risk assessment methodologies for civil engineering structures due to natural and manmade hazards.

Ken is the latest addition to the Gavin and Doherty Geosolutions (GDG) team, where he joins as a Design Engineer. He has 12 years’ experience site experience in construction, infrastructural and marine projects in Ireland, across Europe, The Middle East and Africa.
