Paul Doherty BE, PhD, CEng. MIEI
Paul graduated from UCD with a BE (Hons) degree, where he specialised in geotechnical engineering and soil mechanics. He has worked on a range of consultancy projects, including offshore foundation design, piled foundations, slope stability and geotechnical instrumentation/monitoring. Paul is also an active member of the Deep Foundation Institute (DFI) technical committees for "Marine Foundations" and "Driven Piling". Paul completed a PhD on the topic of offshore pile design in 2010. He has published over 50 technical articles on piling and foundations and has been Managing Director at GDG since the company inception in 2011.
Kenneth Gavin BEng, PhD, CEng. MIEI
As Principal Engineer at GDG, Kenneth is a consultant and active researcher in geotechnical engineering with seventeen years’ experience in the field. He completed a PhD on the topic of piling in 1998. Kenneth worked for Arup as a senior geotechnical engineer for 3 years before joining University College Dublin in 2001. He has continued to act as a geotechnical consultant for major infrastructure projects, offshore design, wind farm developments, deep foundations and the design of urban basements and other soil-structure interaction problems. He has published widely in the areas of deep foundations, slope stability and reliability analysis. He is a member of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering technical committee on pile foundations and past chairman of Geotechnical Society of Ireland.
