The Offshore Survey Management Team at GDG provides a range of specialist services to support clients with their survey and site investigation requirements for offshore renewables projects, including Geoscience Survey Strategies, Survey and Site Investigation scoping and specification, Tender management and contractor selection, live fieldworks supervision and oversight supported by provision of client site representatives and review of contractor’s survey and site investigation deliverables.
We are a team of survey and site investigation specialists, geophysicists, geotechnical engineers and survey managers mostly Mater’s qualified with several years of operational experience in offshore site characterisation, that support clients on a broad range of specialist topics in the area of survey and site investigation for offshore renewables projects.
Due to increasing project demands, we are looking for a Project Engineer/ Project Surveyor from a Survey or Site Investigation background to support project requirements within GDG’s Offshore Survey Management Team.
Role Description:
As a Project Engineer/ Project Surveyor you will be working closely with a passionate and ambitious team of survey specialists and survey/site investigation project managers to deliver and support survey and site investigation campaigns to meet client’s development requirements.
Key Responsabilities:
Assist GDG’s survey managers and technical leads with:
- Preparation of Survey and Site investigation scopes, management of fieldworks and contractors’ data delivery including; meeting attendance, review of daily reports, data review (dependent on relevant experience)
- Engagement with survey and site investigation contractors to ensure latest technologies and methods are considered for planned site investigations where they bring efficiencies or increase in quality of data deliverables.
- Advising clients on survey strategy and phasing of survey campaigns.
- Appraisal and Evaluation of survey contractors’ tender submissions to ensure compliance with scopes of work.
- Review and comment of contractor’s project documents.
- Review of client representatives project reports and capturing feedback on contractor performance and lessons learned.
- Working closely with clients and contractors to ensure license conditions are understood and executed correctly prior to and during the site investigation works.
Support GDG’s resource and contractor coordinator in:
- Engagement with new client representatives to build GDG’s existing network
- Support with the resourcing and provision of offshore client representatives.
- Review and processing of client representative timesheets and invoices for project time and expenses.
- Negotiate rates with client representatives
- Prepare framework agreements and work schedules
- Coordinate client representative rotations and crew changes
- Assist in travel arrangements for site representatives using GDG’s selected travel agency.
Expertise Required:
- Understanding of the site investigation requirements for offshore wind development, including data acquisition and processing methods and limitations in line with industry best practises (Specific technical support will be provided from technical leads) Ideally with hands on operational and technical experience of offshore survey and /or site investigation techniques
- Strong Microsoft Office skills are essential as the role will involve assistance with the development and improvement of document templates and spreadsheets used for analysis and project planning.
- Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills for engagement and interaction with clients, subcontractors and collaborating with others.
- Highly organised and able to handle many tasks in parallel.
- Report writing skills
- A full clean driver’s licence.
Education/Qualifications:
Hold a University Degree in Marine Geography/Geosciences/Geology/ Engineering/Geophysics/ Geotechnics related discipline.
