We are expanding our ecological capability due to increased project demands and are looking for individuals with relevant experience who are looking to progress their career within an ambitious consultancy, working primarily in offshore wind projects. Building on the existing specialities within the Marine Advisory Team, we are specifically looking to increase our marine mammal and fish ecology capabilities. Over the past 12 months, we have been involved in several high profile offshore and nearshore marine projects and with continued growth in the offshore renewable market, we expect continuous growth.
Role Description:
The main purpose of the role(s) is to provide specialist offshore marine mammal and/or fish advice at a strategic level across a suite of projects, including for environmental impact assessment (EIA) and appropriate assessment (AA) as well as project consenting and survey design and management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert marine mammal and/or fish ecology advice relating to environmental assessment, consents and management for the design and construction of major projects and including (but not limited to) survey design, data collection, data analysis and interpretation.
- Produce and review written technical reports and documentation in relation to marine mammals and/or fish including feasibility studies, screening/scoping/pre-application consultation, EIAR, AA, survey reports and management/mitigation plans, application submission, consent management, due diligence and other documentation as required.
- Support the continued growth of our Marine Advisory Team by supporting business development activities, developing relationships with new and existing clients, and using your existing network to win work.
- Liaise with clients, regulators and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Train, motivate and mentor junior staff.
Expertise Required:
- Possess excellent knowledge and understanding of offshore marine mammals and/or fish ecology, including survey design, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, and impact assessments
- Knowledge and experience of the renewables sector
- Experience contributing marine mammals and/or fish expertise to environmental elements of offshore projects, ideally including both subsea cable projects and offshore wind.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, clients, suppliers and industry.
- Should be willing to travel, including possible international travel.
- Candidates should be highly organised and motivated with effective communication skills, a good work ethic, and a commitment to technical excellence, personal efficiency, and career progression through Continued Professional Development.
- Knowledge of Irish planning and consents system including evolving marine permitting legislation (desirable)

Education/Qualifications:
Hold a University Degree in environmental science or a related field of study.
