The Team at GDG supports clients with a range of specialist services including site assessments and remediation designs for residential, commercial and industrial projects and onshore wind. We are a team of geoscientists and engineers that support clients on a broad range of earthworks, civil and environmental engineering design for onshore projects. To grow our in-house expertise, we are looking for a hands-on experienced geotechnical engineer who can collaborate effectively with fellow team members and support our project delivery works providing high quality technical input.
Role Description:
As a Graduate Geoenvironmental Scientist you will be working closely with a talented team of geoscientists and engineers to help us deliver safe, innovative and optimised solutions. You will work on a variety of our onshore projects.
Candidates should be willing to travel to and work on remote sites away from the office location.
Candidates must be numerate and capable of using standard data management and statistical tools.
Will be expected to prepare clear and concise technical reports.
Key responsibilities will also include:
- Geoenvironmental Desk Top Studies
- Site investigation design and supervision
- Environmental monitoring
- Factual and interpretative reporting for geoenvironmental ground investigations
- Contaminated land risk assessment
- Geochemical data interpretation
- Remediation design, supervision and verification
- Support to project pricing and budgeting
- Health and Safety including site specific risk assessments
Expertise required:
Knowledge/Awareness of some or all of the below would be beneficial:
- The Land Contamination Risk Management framework
- Human Health Risk Assessment
- Controlled Waters / Water Environment Pollution Risk Assessment
- Site investigation methods
- Geochemistry
- Multivariate statistics
Education/Qualifications:
Mandatory:
- University Degree in a relevant geoscience discipline.
Desirable:
- Higher/Postgraduate Degree in a relevant geoscience discipline.
Additional requirements:
Candidates should also be highly organised and motivated individuals with effective communication and presentation skills, a good work ethic, and a commitment to technical excellence, personal efficiency, and career progression through Continued Professional Development.
Candidates should have a full UK Valid driver’s licence.
