Role Description:
We are looking for a self-motivated and results-driven general manager to direct and manage our organization’s business activities and to develop and implement effective business strategies and programs. This is a strategic leadership position within the Ordtek management team, responsible for all aspects of the business administration, compliance, and reporting. Ordtek is at a pivotal stage in a growth journey where having been acquired by the Venterra Group last year, now has an opportunity to expand both the service offerings and the geographical footprint. In order to take advantage of the market opportunities, it is necessary to build a robust and resilient management structure with clear lines of responsibilities.
This role will interface closely with the Managing Director and Operations Director to ensure smooth day to day running of the business. Our expectation is that this role will take ownership of all aspects of the business outside of operational delivery and technical development, which will sit with the Ops Director and MD respectively. The GM will be based in the office and take charge of shaping the work environment, allocating resources, developing staff, building the organization, and overseeing all reporting. The GM will be the primary point of contact for all back-office activities, including managing those interfaces with the wider Venterra Group. As part of the leadership team, the GM will also participate in strategy discussions and contribute to setting the direction of the business.
Key Responsabilities:
- Overseeing daily business activities
- Business Administration ;

- Oversee recruitment and training ;
- Evaluate operational and financial performance.
Expertise required:
- Preference for somebody from the UXO ; Geoscience ; or Renewable industries but not a strict requirement
- Good knowledge of different business functions.
- Past experience in the consultancy sector
- Strong leadership qualities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Highly organized.
- Strong work ethic.
- Good interpersonal skills, a natural team worker and builder.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Computer literate.
- Proactive nature.
- Able to be largely office based providing a consistent ‘presence’ to the organisation.
Education/Qualifications:
- Degree in engineering, business management or a Masters in business administration.
Aditional requirements:
Candidates should also be highly organised and motivated individuals with effective communication skills, a good work ethic, and a commitment to technical excellence, personal efficiency, and career progression through Continued Professional Development. Own transport is essential due to the remote location of the office.
