(GDG) understand the complex interaction between the geotechnical and structural failure mechanisms. Optimal engineering also requires a detailed understanding of the Eurocodes and the various calculation methodologies that underpin these design standards. To streamline the design process and to facilitate value engineering under tight delivery programmes, we have recently developed the first version of a multi-functional pile design software tool ALL_PILE (Axially and Laterally Loaded Pile Software).

She is helping to characterise and map the transition zone, the broken and weathered zone at the interface between the bedrock and the subsoil, which may be an important pathway for groundwater and contaminants.

GDG is delighted to be nominated for two awards for the Ground Engineering Awards 2017. Our work on the Irish rail cuttings and embankment asset management tool has been nominated for the Award for Technical Excellence. GDG has been working closely with Irish Rail over the past two years to enhance the slope risk modelling procedures for cuttings and embankments. The new software tool is a significant step forward for the management of geotechnical assets on linear infrastructure networks.

Temporary Works Design at Dublin Port

GDG undertook the Temporary Works Piling Gate Design for the installation of 600mm diameter, 25m long, vertical and raker steel tube piles that are currently under construction by Roadbridge L&M Keating joint venture (RBLMK) as part of the Alexandra Basin Redevelopment project in Dublin Port at Cross Berth Quay.
