Geothermal Research - a hot topic for GDG
GDG are leading a multinational European research initiative funded through the European Commission ERA-NET co-fund Geothermica.
The Geo-Urban project aims to identify and assess the potential for geothermal energy exploitation in urban environments. With the help of our international partners two study sites in Dublin, Ireland and Vallés, Catalonia, Spain will be investigated using a newly developed multi-disciplinary geophysical exploration strategy which is designed to tackle the challenges of conducting geophysical surveys in urban environments.
As part of the Geo-Urban project a roadmap for the development of geothermal energy systems will be produced so that the outcomes of the Geo-Urban project may be applied to similar localities across the globe.
