Our clients include large civil and building contractors, project developers and engineering consulting firms. We also offer forensic engineering and expert witness services to the Insurance and Legal sectors.

Gavin and Doherty Geosolutions Ltd. (GDG) are seeking a suitable candidate to fill a Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer role at our London office at Euston Tower. The applicant should have a minimum of four years engineering experience, preferably in geotechnical analysis/design and be degree qualified to the level of MSc.

The applicant should be able to demonstrate (i) design skills across a range of technical problems, (ii) ability to work in a strong team environment, (iii) understanding of soil mechanics and (iv) appreciation for project delivery structures. Some previous exposure to contract documents and preparing technical specifications would be a benefit but not a requirement.

The position will involve:

Geotechnical Interpretation
Design of soil-structure systems
Analysis of slopes, retaining walls, foundations, etc.
Some CAD based / Civil 3D work to supplement design geometries
Helping prepare tender documents

Technical details of projects may involve:

Scoping and Specifying site investigations.
Geotechnical interpretation for onshore and offshore site investigations.
Selecting design parameters and undertaking advanced geotechnical analysis.
Geotechnical and Foundation design for civil, structural, infrastructure, offshore and renewable projects.
Technical report writing.
Site based Inspections and Supervision of ground investigations.

The position will primarily be based in London but will involve some national travel as well as travel to Ireland and central Europe for meetings, site inspections and construction supervision.

Desired Skills and Experience:

4+ years of experience in Geotechnical analysis and design.
An MSc degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology.
Chartered or approaching CEng status with ICE and/ or CGeol status.
Experience and proficiency with technical report writing and presentations.
A full clean driver’s licence.
